apartment Feng Shui ( Choosing a location and home office )
Whether we own our own home, apartment, or live in rented accommodation, we can use Feng Shui principles to create a living space in which we are comfortable, and which also welcomes visitors. When choosing a property or place to live we normally investigate the immediate environment. We use certain criteria to judge it accordingly to our own individual requirements.
Important aspects concerning our surroundings, include:
1. The appearance of neighbouring properties,
2. Proximity to schools,
3. Efficient transport for traveling to work and shopping,
4. Green spaces such as Parks and sporting facilities,
Some moves are dictated by a work promotion, others by family circumstances, and still others by a desire to give up an urban lifestyle and perhaps retire to the coast. Whatever the reason for the move, our choice of home, as a nurturing space, is important.
"With just a little knowledge of Feng Shui principles,we can select prime positions for our homes".

Our environment Apartment Feng Shui
Our environment has a psychological impact on us wherever we may be. Seeing, smelling or hearing influences will make an impression. We also need look at ourselves to ascertain what type of people we are, in order to understand our needs in terms of living space.
There is no point moving to a remote area if you love shopping and street life, as you'll never feel comfortable. A Rabbit who retires to a sandy seaside will, at best, be tired and drained and at worst become ill.
With an insight into our own natures, and an increased awareness of the effect our environment has on us, we can use Feng Shui principles to find harmonious spaces for ourselves and our families.
Energizing Our Homes, Apartment Feng Shui
When we move into our home, be it house, apartment or unit, and have an unpleasant experience, the energy generated can become stuck and heavy. We can lighten it to some extent by clearing out all of the clutte - everywhere and thoroughly.
Vibrations are important and we can resonate at a level which is in harmony with the natural vibrations of the Earth.
Our senses also work at a vibrational level, and if we can improve their quality in our homes we will feel the benefit. Often the vibrations which have caused the previous owner to behave in a certain way, or adopt a certain way of life, will have the same effect on us. We should take note of any problems which have befallen them before moving in.
Stress Indicators

Cankers on tree trunks

Illness shortly after moving
Uneasy atmosphere
Tunneling activity
Cold damp rooms
Where you can, remove the negative energies from your apartment or home. Avoid areas of negativity that create bad feelings. Introduce items that stimulate your senses, and make you feel welcome when you arrive home. A fresh, welcoming home is a sign of good Feng Shui principles.
Feng Shui Decorating and Using Colors
The Tao teaches us that out of the inter-play of Yin and Yang all things come.
Yin is the blackness which absorbs all colors: Yang, the whiteness which reflects them.
These two give rise to the Five Elements and their associated color representations, from which arise the whole spectrum of colors. Color is vibration, and we each respond to it on many levels, both consciously and unconsciously.
Study or studio in the home, Apartment Feng Shui
The home study may be used by many of your family members. It should be situated in a quiet part of the home, if possible. Be sure to keep the bedroom, kitchen, sitting room quite separate from it, for example, by screening.
It is not a good idea to use a bedroom as a study or studio, because it will become no longer a place to relax in.
Positioning the desk
The position of the desk is crucial, if maximum benefit is to be gained, and it should be placed to avoid any areas of damaging Chi. Chi flow is, of course, an integral principle in Feng Sui.
While studying or hard at work, your view should be pleasant, but not detract you from your work. A view of your neighbours barbecue area will not be conductive to work.
Below is a list of detractions you should avoid if possible.
1. Neighbours' windows.
2. Telephone wires or roof points aimed at the office.
3. Trailing wires that cause distractions and irritate.
4. Printers should be positioned to ensure the paper can eject easily.
5. Keep books and equipment off the desk surface.
6. Consider whether that paper hard-copy is really necessary. If not, store all completed work on a CD, or hard drive.
7. Noticeboards with out-of-date information, and out-of-date books.
8. Broken equipment.
9. Run down batteries.
10. Piles of unread journals and papers.
11. Allow as much natural light as possible, to ensure productive, invigorating Chi flow!
