Fairy Water Fountains, Lets Get Creative!

Hi, and welcome. This is our page on backyard, patio and interior water fountains - Fairy Water Fountains.

Why fairies? Well, we are talking about apartment gardens here; units, town-houses, villas, places with smaller areas, restricted space, and we know that fairies, elves, and pixies are usually petite.

They love “small.” You will, too. Yes, there is something almost magical about having a miniature fountain in which one can envisage the “little be-winged people” frolicking and having fun.

Placement

The placement of the fairy water fountain is as important as the style. Where you actually put it can be critical to the whole feel of the area. We suggest you view our page on Asian Garden Ornaments for tips and ideas as to actual placement. But now to types.

Types of Fairy Water Fountains

Today, most statues on the market are molded from a master sculptured piece. They’re made of resin and mass produced. No matter, they look as good as the genuine article made of stone, marble and the like. Fairy water fountains are generally produced the same way.

And what, is a fairy water fountain? There’s the solid (the thing you actually buy) and the water. Like Ying and Yang, you cannot have one without the other. The water element might, in practical terms, be nothing but two hydrogen atoms combined with one of oxygen, but how it flows, trickles, runs, splashes, across, down, over, into, those solids gives it an individuality that is quite tangible. Your senses are stimulated, harmonized, tranquilized, by the movement of that so-called, plain old H2O. It is “water music.”

But to continue with types. You can have a large backyard water fountain, one tier pond with a fountain playing into it. You can have a three tier water fountain, or, four or more tiers with the water trickling down. You can have stairways. You can have fairy fountains with corrugated walls in which the water clings and runs. You can use half barrel ponds, full barrel ponds. The pond can be above ground or sunken. The shape of the pond or ponds can be just about anything you could wish for. Shop around- there’s plenty of variety out there.

Picking a particular shape or model should decided by personal taste. Let someone else do this for you and you might be disappointed.

Go and see these fountains in action. Note not only how they look but how they “feel” to you, as you envisage them placed in your own setting. For example, you might decide not to have the fountain, say, just below the balcony, after all; you may place it in the foyer on a fairy table. Sense the ambience. Then, whatever you decide upon, enhance your fairy water fountain with your favorite plants. And put them close, so that they can thrive in the humidity it creates.

Plants

And speaking of plants for that fairy water garden- what to use? Well, what about orchids? - miniature orchids? Fairies love ‘em Turn that fountain area into a magical mini-landscape.

You can do this by placing miniature greenery and colour around it: Bonsai’s, tiny varieties of ferns and lilies; allow the moss to grow. And don’t forget to rotate the plants around so that you can determine which ones grow best in a particular position.

Light for Fairy Water Fountains

Add a soft light nearby, so that at night its rays play upon the fountain. This way you get its benefits both by night and day. Add your favourite crystals to the water itself and to the surrounding area to create even greater atmosphere.

Crystals not only reflect light and the play of colour as that light changes, but create propitious Feng Shui. So if you want not only more beauty, but also increased peace and harmony in your life- why not make your own water fountain? fairy water fountain bowl

If possible, it is preferable to place a fountain so that it can be seen from both within and outside you home.

It should also be positioned in such a way that it blends in with, rather than stands out from, its surrounds. If it is outside then, preferably, we should come across its sounds before we actually see it.

It is also a good idea to have our fairy garden fountains or fountain placed so that, in the summer months, we are able to receive the air which blows across it. The breeze will connect with the fountain- and along with it, its melodious sounds

Oxygenating Water

The flow of water, especially tumbling water becomes highly oxygenated. If you use this water on your garden’s container plants, you’ll get amazing results. Just remember, though, if you do take water from the fountain, you’ll need to top it up. Keep those little ponds in that three-tier water fountain topped up. The ponds are usually quite shallow. You don’t want that water pump to run dry.

Miniature Water Garden

Any container that is capable of holding water can be used to create a miniature water garden.

You can use just about anything so long as it’s not porous. Old galvanized water tanks, sinks and bath tubs – provided their outlets are plugged- are very serviceable, and can be made to look quite attractive, especially if sunk well into the ground.
