Origin- South America, Africa, Asia and New Guinea
Description- Begonias are probably the most widely grown of all houseplants. There are more than 1000 species, all from tropical areas. What have they in common? A succulent nature and waxy leaves in many curious shapes and markings. B.rex is mostly grown for it's foliage; B.tuberhybrida is the gorgeous plant that looks like a cross between a Rose and a Gardenia, with delicate ruffled pettles. The height also varies according to species, growing from 15cm to 1 metre.
How to grow Begonias
Position- A bright window or windowsill with direct sun is fantastic and these plants love to thrive in humid conditions, so place a water container nearby. A great idea is a bowl of pebbles, as this looks very attractive.

Begonia diseases and problems- Keep you begonia well fed and the compost will keep your plant happy and healthy, if you come accross any scale spray with a White oil to suffocate these little buggers.
