An outdoor Bamboo water fountain can be a great feature in the garden that not only produces a soothing sound, but invigorates all the senses in so many ways. You ask how? Well in this article you will find all answers to your questions.
Bamboo water fountains really are quite unique and have been used for centuries in ancient gardens right up until modern day. Feng Shui enthusiasts just love Bamboo in the landscape as it is as beautiful as it is strong. The use of Bamboo in Feng Shui design has been passed down in the centuries and used in so many ways, we truly would lose count, but one such way is the Outdoor Bamboo Water Fountain.
Placing an Outdoor bamboo water fountain in any garden come down to scale and balance. Balance your presented piece in such a way that it fits into its surroundings and doesn't over throw the garden as a whole. Many people like to map out the scale, but in the end it's your garden so go with how you feel.
The Key to Design Outdoor Garden Fountains
The key to using such outdoor garden fountains is the way you like to present your unique show peace. Below is a series of ideas to work with. I am sure you will find a wealth of information and ideas right here at your finger tips.
1. Tropical - The tropical look can have a wide mixture of themes and feelings. The general plantings that fit right into this style are ferns and palms. These loving tropical plants love the humidity from the surrounding fountain and benefit immensely. If you don't live in a tropical area, say you come from a temperate zone, well with a few tricks of the trade you too can have a tropical garden surrounding your Outdoor Bamboo Garden. Example- If your garden area receives full sun in the summer months and faces north-northeast in Australia a small wall made of concrete or rock can protect the plants from cold south winds and reflect light. Also the wall will hold heat and slowly release it through the night to keep the tropical plants snug and warm. Creating your own mini ecosystem is what we are really looking for here.
TIP- Ask at your local Nursery what plants would suit your area and follow their advice.
2. Stone - Stone gardens can follow a huge range of themes. Adding cactus and the likes don’t really suit with waterfalls or fountains so a mass of ferns and small grasses looks just delightful.
3. Water garden - Water gardens are one of my all time favourites, but can be a lot of work setting them up. Bamboo fountains are more suited to small gardens, so here I recommend you go with the next choice, a mini water garden.
4. Miniature Water Garden- These magnificent fountains looks great and are truly suited to this style. Follow the link here Miniature Water Garden and visit our Miniature Water Garden page for more information.
5. Japanese - Japanese gardens like to create miniature versions if the realistic piece. Tropical Bonsai's such as Figs look absolutely stunning in this setting, but you will have to do your homework though.
6. Balinese - This theme is generally suited to a larger scale. You can create a Balinese them by using some Balinese or Hindu Statues place amongst tropical plants. Be careful not to overpower your settings with the statues and keep your fountain as the main theme. Creating distance amongst the statues will help this.
7. Chinese - Chinese gardens are very similar to Japanese with a miniature scale being the best option.
8. Asian mixed theme - Be careful here not to mix too many themes as this can make it look messy. Bamboo creates an Asian feeling and can also look good in mass plantings. Be careful not to plant the spreading varieties, and check at local nurseries which ones would suit your garden.

Fashions come into being and fade out - though some seem to go on forever. Today, stone garden fountain variations are the vogue. Well, often they appear to be stone.
In reality, many are made of concrete, utilizing a stone oxide to create a "natural" stone-like appearance.
This oxide stains the concrete and gives these pseudo stone fountains that appealing rocky texture that so many of us love. The fact of the matter is that concrete ages well, and because the oxide is mixed thoroughly through the concrete, we have a stone fountain that will stand us in good stead for a very long time.
Tip: One way to speed up the "aging process," as far as looks are concerned, is to pour some old milk and yoghurt over the fountain or stone water statue. It works a treat.
